He has collaborated with numerous talented international producers throughout his career - including Papathanassiou Vangelis, Nicholas Nicorelli, Tommy Vance, Classical rock group Enid , Jean Ferre and Mark Harris - and recorded for world-class labels. An early childhood fascination with rhythmic harmony led to his choice, as first instrument, of the Fender Precision Electric Bass. This was soon flanked by harmonica, guitar and piano,as well as traditional stringed instruments such as the ud, the mandola and the saz. From the very beginning, he listened intently to music from every corner of the planet - from the Libyan desert and the temples of India to Andalusia cross the Scottish highlands and streets of New York - absorbing a rich variety of influences that would lead to his unique, personal style.
Folklore of the Sahara
One day, Binta and her two friends were returning home when they spotted a tafka, an unusually beautiful lizard, sunning itself on a rock. The tafka was very pregnant. Taking pity on the lizard, Binta offered to help.
A few weeks later, a stranger appeared at Binta’s tent and told her that Tafka was ready. Binta did not know anyone called Tafka, but she followed the stranger. Instantly, the two arrived at a beautiful tent. Inside was a very beautiful, pregnant woman. It was a djinn that had apeared as the pregnant lizard. Binta helped care for Tafka and stayed with the djinns for 40 days, learning much about their magic powers. When she returned to her home, word spread about her adventures.
One day a handsome young man asked Binta to help him find a wife. Binta knew there could be no human more beautiful than a djinn. She magically summoned one to be the stranger’s wife, and peace was declared between man and djinn.
This is why, to this day woman from that part of the world are as lovely as fairies, with long beautiful hair and shining eyes. They are all the children of djinns.
